EMPOWER Supervisor promoted to Director of Permanency Services, enhancing leadership with her extensive background
EMPOWER is pleased to announce Precious Higdon as the new Director of Permanency Support. Higdon joined the EMPOWER team as the Supervisor of Permanency Support and has been promoted to Director of Permanency Support.
EMPOWER, a child welfare collaborative led by Texas Family Initiative LLC (TFI), serves as the Community-Based Care (CBC) contractor in Metroplex East. This nine-county region includes Dallas and surrounding communities. EMPOWER oversees foster care, case management, kinship, and reunification services.
Higdon grew up in St. Louis, MO, and attended Jackson State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in social work in 2005. After completing her studies, she returned to St. Louis to work as a Family Service Lead with Urban League Head Start. Her dedication to working with children and families motivated her to further her education at Lindenwood University, where she obtained her Master’s in School and Professional Counseling in 2012.
In 2018, Higdon embraced a new challenge and moved to Dallas, TX, where she began her career at Metrocare as a service coordinator. She later joined the Department of Family and Protective Services in 2019 as a CVS Specialist, mentoring others and eventually becoming a Conservatorship Supervisor.
Higdon enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling, and actively participating in community service with her sorority sisters of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc.
“I’m excited to transition into my new role as Director of Permanency Services as it is a blessing to continue to impact children’s lives for the better and support families,” said Higdon.
